Meet Recap

The Governors continued their tradition of winning the GLAC track meet with a dominating performance by placing nearly 2 girls in every event. Scoring for the Governors were: Breanna Brignac and Jhanelle Spence in the long jump with a 3rd and 4th place finish, Tatiana Clady and Kenadee Williams went 1-2 in the shot put, then flipped positions with Kenadee placing 1st and Tatiana 2nd in the discus; and Jaida Blissett and Brooklyn Cade went 1-2 in the high jump. In the individual running events Leilah Hicks and Breanna Reed placed 2nd and 3rd in the 100m dash, Brooklyn took home the blue ribbon with a 1st place finish in the 100 high hurdles while teammate Tyasia jones placed 3rd; Giselle Flores and Aaliyah Clopton went 2-3 in the 1600m run; Hannah Hammar ran her best time of the season and finished 1st in the 400 dash while teammate Ani Montford finished with her best time and placed 3rd. Ariah Smith and Brooklyn placed 2-3 in the 300 low hurdles, and Hannah and Aaliyah placed 1st and 3rd in the 800 run. Giselle and Alondra Yanez went 1-2 in the 3200m run, while Leilah and Jhanelle placed 2nd and 4th in the 200m dash. It was a great day for the relay teams again as all 3 teams swept the GLAC teams with first place finishes. Members of those teams were: 400m relay- Brianna Rodriguez, Jhanelle, Breanna Reed, and Leilah, 1600m relay team-Leilah, Ariah, Breanna, and Hannah, and the 3200m relay team of Aaliyah, Ani, Giselle and Hannah. Congratulations ladies on continuing the Governor tradition of winning the conference meet and good luck at Sectionals on Tuesday at Highland.
