Governors News · Charity Games in Memory of Obed Garcia

Several weeks ago, Obed Garcia suddenly passed away.  Our Governor family is still in shock at his passing.  Several students came up with the idea of holding a basketball tournament in memory of Obed and donating whatever money that is made  to Obed’s mother.

Here are the details.  Part I…. There will be a Student-Faculty game held during the school day, Friday, June 2, Periods 6 & 7. The cost of the game is $2.00 at the door and $1.00 presale, sold during the lunch hours. There will be a 3 point contest at Half-time, $1.00 to enter, subway coupons will be given out to anyone that hits a 3.  The concession stand will be open and all proceeds will be donated as well.

Part II  of the tournament will take place in the Morton High School gym on Friday, June 2 from 4-8, with approximately 16 teams participating.  It is a single elimination tournament and the Championship game will be played around 7:30.   This tournament is organized by Ieon Harvey, Shalamar Jarrett, Dashawn Jones, Amari Moten, Travon Davis & Autumn White, students at Morton High School. The cost to enter the game will be $2.00 for students & adults.  There will be a Concession Stand.  Again all proceeds from this tournament will be donated to Obed’s mother.  Come out and support a worthy cause.
