Both teams were strong on the hill Wednesday, but the Governors defeated George Rogers Clark High School 2-1. Tommy Morrissy allowed just five hits to the Pioneers. He went seven innings, allowing one run,, striking out seven and walking one.
The Governors opened up scoring in the second inning, when Albert Kopp singled on a 1-0 count, scoring the Governor’s first run.
Derrick Woods took the loss for Clark.. He lasted seven innings, allowing ten hits and two runs while striking out two.
The Governors collected ten hits on the day. Josh Lamb and Eddie Broomes managed three hits in the contest.
Matthew Johnson led the Pioneers with two hits in three at bats.
